EURASIP Awards: 2nd Call Fellow Nominations
EURASIP Fellow nominations are invited with a deadline of October 31st, 2016.
The EURASIP fellowship programme recognizes outstanding achievements of its members and volunteers. Each year, a select group of up to four European signal processing researchers are elevated to EURASIP Fellow, the Association's most prestigious honour. Fellowships are awarded with a citation of the form “for contributions to …”, i.e. referring to a major long-term contribution to a technical field.

How to Submit Nominations
Any EURASIP member can nominate a colleague to be elevated to Fellow grade. Nominations should be submitted to the EURASIP Awards chair by e-mail (
The nomination form can be downloaded from the EURASIP website at
The deadline is October 31st of every year.

The Board of Directors encourages you to share this information with your colleagues.

Announcement STATOS 2016 Workshop
This year, EURASIP’s Special Area Team on Signal and Data Analytics for Machine Learning (SiG-DML) together with the Association for the Promotion of Science and Education (a German nonprofit organization supporting children’s education) are co-organizing a very special workshop from 1pm-7:30pm on Friday Sep. 2, right after EUSIPCO 2016 in Budapest.

The workshop is STATOS 2016, the second in a series of thematic workshops co-sponsored by EURASIP in memory of Alex B. Gershman. STATOS 2016 is focused on the theme of Machine Learning from Big Data. The previous edition of STATOS was held in Darmstadt, Germany in 2013.

STATOS is meant to be a `capstone' event, packed with six cutting-edge in-depth keynote lectures by world-class experts in machine learning, big data analytics, and optimization. It is a rare opportunity to listen, learn, and interact with these experts in an intense half-day workshop. This year, the keynote speakers are:

Romain Couillet, Supelec
Merouane Debbah, Supelec & Huawei
Mario Figueiredo, IST
Georgios Giannakis, U. Minnesota
Stephane Mallat, ENS
and Alain Rakotomamonjy, U. Rouen

The workshop webpage is available at: where the link to registration is also provided.
