President's Message: Welcome to New members
I would like to give a warm welcome to our new members and truly hope they will appreciate and support EURASIP activities and initiatives.

The 24rd European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO 2016) took place in the vibrant historic city of Budapest, the capital of Hungary. The location was in the medieval Castle District overlooking the Blue Danube, a fascinating location.

EUSIPCO 2016 was a successful event that gathered about 650 attendees in Budapest. Thanks to the work of the General Chair, Lajos Hanzo, of the Technical Program co-Chairs, Andrea Conti and Saeid Sanei, and of their organizing committee (I like to acknowledge here the work done by Peter Nagy, Rolland Vida, Nandor Matrai, and Melinda Aszódi), EUSIPCO 2016 provided an attractive technical program, featuring a strong selection of ten tutorials, twenty-eight special sessions, four invited plenary speakers and one EURASIP Fellow Inaugural Lecture by Prof. Petar Djuric, as well as a very attractive social program. The conference banquet was aboard a ship cruising on the Danube.

Through their registration, all EUSIPCO 2016 attendees automatically become EURASIP members or renewed their membership until December 31st, 2017. Current members who did not attend EUSIPCO 2016 will receive an invitation to renew their membership for 2017 through the EURASIP website.

I would like to give a warm welcome to all of you and I truly hope you will appreciate and support EURASIP activities and initiatives. The membership benefits are various and valuable, and they are succinctly described in our promotional flyer downloadable here. Among them, I want to mention here the 10% discount on Open Access publication charges in EURASIP-SpringerOpen journals. To get this discount you just have to enter the code TC00888044 at the end of the submission process, when you are asked for a SpringerOpen membership account number.

This is my last year as EURASIP President. Hence, I would like to acknowledge the work of my predecessors (Marc Moonen, Markus Rupp, and Sergios Theodoridis) and by all the BoD members I worked with in the last 10 years. It was a great pleasure and an honor to work with all of them, a rewarding experience that I highly recommend to our young members. To them, I say “Please contribute to keep in good health our Association”. Details on our activities and services to the members can be found in the EURASIP website. Look at it.

In closing, let me remind that next EUSIPCO will be held in the beautiful island of Kos, in Greece. EUSIPCO 2017 is organized under the chairmanship of Petros Maragos and Sergios Theodoridis and it promises to be another memorable event. The Call for Papers and more detailed information are available at www.eusipco2017.org.

Looking forward to seeing all of you in Kos.
