EURASIP BoD Election Results 2018 |
EURASIP is managed by its Board of Directors (BoD). In future, EURASIP BoD elections will be held every year and the term of the director membership is moved from four years to three years, starting 2019.
The EURASIP vzw General Assembly confirms the BoD election results and appointments.
This year, again, the voting for new members of the EURASIP BoD was only electronic.
The deadline for voting was 1 September 2018 and the outcome of the voting has already been approved by the EURASIP vzw General Assembly and was announced at EUSIPCO 2018 in Rome (Italy).
We have four BoD members whose term ends on 31 December 2018, namely, Jean-Luc Dugelay (served two terms), Patrick Naylor (served two terms),
Fernando Pereira (served one term), Alle-Jan van der Veen (served one term, and a candidate for a second term), and myself who served as president and will move to the seat of Past-President in place of Fulvio Gini; Fulvio will leave the BoD.
We selected seven excellent candidates for four seats.
I want to thank all the seven colleagues for their willingness to be involved in EURASIP.
It is very much appreciated and I hope that all who were not selected this time will continue to support the association.
I wish to congratulate Alle-Jan van der Veen for being re-elected to the BoD. I also congratulate and welcome our newly elected BoD members Björn Ottersten, Augusto Sarti, and Jean-Yves Tourneret.
Their term starts 1 January 2019. We are looking forward to working with them.
My heartfelt thanks go to Fulvio Gini for his tireless efforts and his support of EURASIP as a Director, President and Past-President. He has been an invaluable asset for the BoD,
and for me as a President; he was always there for me when I needed advice. I also thank Jean-Luc Dugelay and Fernando Pereira who will leave the BoD on 31 December 2018.
It was a great pleasure to work with them. My thanks also go to Patrick Naylor as former Director for Conferences and Workshops,
and I wish to extend to him a warm welcome as the newly elected President of EURASIP, whose term starts 1 January 2019. I look forward to continuing working with you, Patrick.
Abdelhak Zoubir
EURASIP President
