Newsletter – Vol. 37, February 2026

In recognition of outstanding achievements in the broad field of Signal Processing, the European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP) elevates each year a select group of up to a maximum of four scholars to “EURASIP Fellow”, the Association's most prestigious honor. The award consists of a certificate that will be presented to the following individuals during the Opening and Awards Ceremony at EUSIPCO 2026, which will be held in Bruges, Belgium from August 31 till September 4, 2026.

Christine Guillemot (INRIA, France) for contributions to video compression and computational imaging.

Patrick Naylor (Imperial College London, UK), for contributions to analysis and enhancement of speech and audio signals.

Robert Schober (Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany), for contributions to signal processing for wireless and molecular communication systems.

Yimin Zhang (Temple University, US), for contributions to sparse array design and processing.

Sincerely yours,

Stephen McLaughlin
EURASIP President

EURASIP Fellow nominations are invited with a deadline of October 31, 2026.
The EURASIP fellowship programme recognizes outstanding achievements of its members and volunteers. Each year, a select group of up to four Signal Processing researchers are elevated to EURASIP Fellow, the Association's most prestigious honour. Fellowships are awarded with a citation of the form “for contributions to …”, i.e. referring to a major long-term contribution to a technical field.

How to submit nominations
Any EURASIP member can nominate a colleague to be elevated to Fellow grade. Nominations should be submitted to the EURASIP Director for Awards by e-mail (awards@eurasip.org).
The nomination form can be downloaded from the EURASIP website at Fellowship-Nomination-Form.
The deadline is October 31st of every year.

The Board of Directors encourages you to share this information with your colleagues.

The 34th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO 2026) has received a record number of paper submissions. This is fantastic news, but it also means we urgently need additional qualified reviewers in order to handle the large number of submissions. If you have previously published at EUSIPCO, ICASSP, Interspeech, or a related signal processing conference, please consider supporting the community.

The EUSIPCO 2026 organizing committee invites proposals for tutorials on established or emerging topics of interest for the signal processing community. Half-day (3 hours and a half each) tutorials on areas related to the conference topics are welcome. Tutorials will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026.

A EUSIPCO tutorial should aim to give a comprehensive overview of a specific topic related to signal processing. A good tutorial should be educational rather than just a cursory survey of techniques. The topic should be of sufficient relevance and importance to attract significant interest from the EUSIPCO community. Typical tutorial audiences consist of graduate students studying signal processing, but also researchers and practitioners from both academia and industry.

The deadline for submitting tutorial proposals has been extended to March 15, 2026. Prospective tutorial proposers are welcome to submit their proposals by e-mail to the Tutorial Co-Chairs. Find more information below in the email or on the conference website
