The founding Editor-in-Chief of JVIP, Prof. Jean-Luc Dugelay, has recently stepped down, after several years of serving as its Editor-in-Chief.

On behalf of EURASIP and Springer, we would like to express our sincerest gratitude to Prof. Jean-Luc Dugelay for his leadership and service to the journal. Jean-Luc was integral to the successful launch and growth of the journal. JIVP first launched as an independent open-access journal in Hindawi in 2007 before it merged with EURASIP. Jean-Luc made great efforts to attract good-quality submissions, and, under his leadership, the journal maintained its good reputation in the community. We've witnessed the journal receiving 500 submissions in a single year and consistently publishing high-quality research. Jean-Luc also launched JIVP monthly webinar in 2020, hosting notable researchers from editorial board and the community in the 35 webinar sessions held thus far.

From May 1st, Jean-Luc has been succeeded by Giuseppe Valenzise .

Giuseppe, previously an Associate Editor of JVIP, is a CNRS researcher at Université Paris-Saclay, CentraleSupélec, in the Laboratoire des Signaux et Systèmes (L2S), France, where he is the head of the Multimedia and Networking team. He completed a Ph.D. in Information Technology at the Politecnico di Milano, Italy, in 2011.

In 2012, he joined the French Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) as a permanent researcher, first at the Laboratoire Traitement et Communication de l’Information (LTCI) Telecom Paristech, and from 2016 at L2S. His research interests span different fields of image and video processing, including traditional and learning-based image and video compression, immersive video (light fields, point clouds), image/video quality assessment, high dynamic range imaging and applications of machine learning to image and video analysis. He is co-author of more than 100 research publications and of several award-winning papers. He received the EURASIP Early Career Award in 2018 for “significant contributions to video coding and analysis”. Giuseppe has previously served as Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, Elsevier Signal Processing: Image communication. He is the Chair of the MMSP technical committee of the IEEE Signal Processing Society for 2024-2025, and he was a member of the Technical Area Committee on Visual Information Processing of EURASIP for the term 2018-2023. EURASIP is very happy that Giuseppe has accepted to become the new EIC, and wish him all the best in taking up this new responsibility.

EURASIP Fellow nominations are invited with a deadline of October 31, 2024.
The EURASIP fellowship programme recognizes outstanding achievements of its members and volunteers. Each year, a select group of up to four signal processing researchers are elevated to EURASIP Fellow, the Association's most prestigious honour. Fellowships are awarded with a citation of the form “for contributions to …”, i.e. referring to a major long-term contribution to a technical field.

How to Submit Nominations
Any EURASIP member can nominate a colleague to be elevated to Fellow grade. Nominations should be submitted to the EURASIP Director for Awards by e-mail (awards@eurasip.org).
The nomination form can be downloaded from the EURASIP website at Fellowship-Nomination-Form.
The deadline is October 31st of every year.

The Board of Directors encourages you to share this information with your colleagues.
